Fall Race Planning

It’s that time of the year…my favorite time. Fall! In my opinion fall is the best time to train and run races. There are tons of races to choose from. This year I’m keeping my race schedule pretty light and all the races I’m doing except two are repeat races.

October 2 – Diva  Half Marathon Long Island

I’m so excited about running this race with two of my best friends from college! I’ve also never been to Long Island before so I’m excited about that, too.

October 30 – Hairy Gorilla Half Marathon

I ran the six-mile version of this trail race last year and loved it! I figured I might as well go all out and do the half marathon this time since I’m hoping to still be in good enough shape. What should I dress up as?

November 13  – Stockade-athon 15K

15K might just be my favorite distance, and last year I loved running the Stockade-athon. My hope it to PR this one!

November 24 – Troy Turkey Trot

My sister and I are planning on doing this together this year. I may just run both the 10K and the 5K. This 5K was my second race ever and I had a blast running it.

December 17 – Last Run 5K

A winter run through Albany’s lights in the park! I’ve been wanting to run this one for years and just never got around to it. I’m aiming for it this year!

What fall races are you planning to run?

Hiiii! I found your blog through THS, and started following you on Twitter because you are a bad ass runner and I loved your blog. I live in Troy too and we have basically done all the same races!

I’m still debating on HG/SS because I’m trying to save $ on race entry fees since last year I spent waaaay too much. I’m definitely doing the Troy Turkey Trot 10K, but can’t decide if I should do the HGH!! I did the six miler last year and it’s so fun. It was my favorite race last year, but I can’t make a decision!

I’m running the Hudson Mohawk River Marathon in 3 weeks (my first)! I read your half marathon recap and I’m hoping that since you rocked it, I will as well!

Hi! Thanks for commenting! 🙂 Good luck with the MHR half! Its a great race, I would have done it this year but I didn’t register in time, so that’s one of the reasons I’m running the HGH. You should too, it would be fun to meet up!

I LOVE fall weather for running. Cooler temps, beautiful scenery… it makes for great races!

What I’ve got planned for fall: Harpoon Octoberfest Run 3.6 miles(Windsor, VT) Oct. 9, The Great Pumpkin Challenge 10k Oct. 22 (in Saratoga), the Hairy Gorilla Half!, The Fall Frun 10k in Clifton Park on November 6, the 5k Turkey Trot in Saratoga on Thanksgiving, and hopefully the Albany Last Run 5k (I did this one for the first time last year, it was so much fun running through Lights in the Park!).

Good luck with all your races, I’ll be seeing you at a few of them 🙂

Well… It is not really “fall” here in Florida, and won’t be until December maybe? Haha. But I am running my first race ever this coming Saturday – a 5K sponsored by a brewery (is that the definition of low-key running?). I have been training for my first half marathon since July — the St. Pete Women’s Half in November. Nervous/Excited/Anxious! 🙂 Can’t wait to read all your recaps!
