    Hanging out in Troy

Saturday was a pretty busy day this past weekend! Earlier in the day my friend Brendan and I went running in the Pine Bush Preserve. Neither one of us had been before, it’s a really nice park with lots of trails. It was really buggy though, so if we stopped for even a minute the bugs attacked! We made sure to wear bugspray but apparently it wasn’t enough! We ran about 2.75 miles. After coming home and showering, it was time to head over to Troy Cloth & Paper, a design studio where you can screen print custom shirts! They also use all eco-friendly inks for printing! The reason I…

Pittsburgh Brews and Dinner at Abay

Yesterday Chris and I wanted to try some of Pittsburgh’s local brews! We drove over to East End Brewing Company to check them out. We sampled a bunch of theirs beers, all of which were good! I think my favorite was the Monkey Boy hefeweizen. I also tried their stout. It was sooo dark. A bit too much for me! Chris got a growler of the Monkey Girl, a dunkelweizen that we later had on the porch. It was good and almost tasted like a sour beer! East End did have a sour beer but it was really sour. The dunkelweizen tasted good! Overall it was a awesome tasting experience…

    Weekend Report

Happy Monday. Well, I had a pretty good weekend. It was HOT and gorgeous! Friday night after work Chris and I went to dinner at Sitar, an Indian restaurant on Central Avenue. Its been awhile since I did a local restaurant review! We ordered the sampler of appetizers, which came with veggie samosas and pakoras with a mint dipping sauce. Everything was delicious and full of flavor. My favorite her were the pakoras. For dinner I got the Navratan Korma (from the menu: mixed vegetables cooked with Indian cheese, cream, onions, & tomato gravy mildly spiced). It was delicious and so filling. Indian food isn’t complete without delicious naan, either.…

    More Burlington Highlights

So, on Sunday after the marathon, we showered and changed. Then Loretta, Tina (Loretta’s relay partner) and I went to the Magic Hat Brewery in South Burlington. They had a lot of cool merchandise and were letting us sample four of their beers. We each got a punch card for the sampler. The samples were free, we just had to tip the bartender. The Elder Betty, one of their summer beers, was my favorite! There weren’t any tours on Sunday, but we got to go look around at the factory from above. I kind of wish we could have had a pint of beer or two, but the samples were…

    Burlington Highlights and Pre-Race Eats

I have to say, after spending a weekend in Burlington, Vermont, it is now one of my favorite places to visit! Despite the never-ending rain and clouds, it was still beautiful with lots of things to see and places to eat. Of course, I was there for the marathon and food was my #1 priory of the weekend. Saturday morning Loretta and I had an early breakfast at the Skinny Pancake, down by the waterfront, also near where the marathon finished and started. It was a really cute crepery with a focus on local ingredients. They had everything from savory to sweet crepes so making a decision was really hard!…
