    New 15K Training Plan

Lately I feel like I’ve been in a running rut. I just finished a 5K on Saturday (that I didn’t train for) but still got a pretty decent time none the less. However, I know I could have possibly PRed if I’d trained hard enough.  Ever since my half marathon in May, I feel sort of aimless with my workouts. I get that way after a big race. I missed really training for it. I had a plan that I didn’t stick to, and even though I finished, it wasn’t the time I really wanted. I miss the organization of having a training plan to follow and miles to check off.…

    Improvements for 2011

Instead of writing a post about 2011 New Years “resolutions”, I’m going to start with talking about ways I plan to improve myself in 2011. Health and Fitness Improvements 1. Stay injury free. I’m starting to think that lately running has been making me prone to injury. I’m going to make sure I stretch and foam roll adequately before and after my all of my runs, along with icing my right quad if it seems to bother me. I get so lazy when it comes to stretching, especially after races, and I really need to take the time to do this in order to prevent injury. 2. Stop with the…

    I Need a Plan

Okay, since my races are pretty much over for 2010, I’m feeling a bit lost! My main goal right now is to PR at my next 5K, which is two weeks from today. My last 5K was in June, when I ran the Capital Pride 5K in 26:10. Since then, I’ve been training for distance, but my pace for my long runs has gone from 10:54/mile to 9:12/mile. That’s pretty speedy! But I haven’t pushed myself to run a fast 5K since June! I’m eager to see what I can do with that distance now. So, for the next two weeks my plan is to work do speedwork a few…

    Half Marathon Training Reflection

I have been inspired! Katie from Legally Fit wrote a post the other day reflecting on her half marathon training, and she inspired me to sort of do the same! We are actually running the same one! (Source) My first half marathon is only 12 days away so I feel like I need to go back and re-evaulate my training. I wrote up a list of goals for my half marathon training when I first started, and can honestly say I didn’t follow many of them. Fitness Goals Cross-train at least once a week! (Biking, anyone?) This did NOT happen. I hardly had time to do any biking (I think…

    Revisiting My Summer Goals

Now that summer has come to a close (unofficially), I want to take a look back at some of the goals I set up for myself back in June: My goal is to run at least 10 races in 2010! I think I can do it. My first half marathon on 10/10/10 will be my 10th race in 2010! I also have a couple more lined up for the end of the year, so I will defintely be surpassing my 10 races of 2010! My Summer Goals Were: Do some trail running – Did two trail runs this summer! Still, not as much as I would have liked. Go hiking…
