Setting Up Zwift with a “Dumb” Bike Trainer
Setting up Zwift has been an experience, to say the least. If you aren’t familiar, Zwift is all the rage right now within the cycling community. It is an app that allows you to set your bike up to an indoor trainer and ride virtually, along with other riders (or players, if you think of Zwift as a game, which it kind of is). Setting it up was kind of a headache, but worth it to be able to ride indoors without wanting to stab myself in the eye from boredom. Zwift offers a free one week trial. When that’s up, a monthly subscription is $14.99 per month. You can…

Celebrating Global Fat Bike Day at KP Trails
Saturday December 1st was Global Fat Bike Day! There was an organized ride happening up at KP trails in Saratoga, so my friend Erin and I decided to check it out. Snow was mostly gone at KP, just a few spots here and there (Erin rode her regular mountain bike, as did others) but since my full suspension bike is out of commission at the moment (plus it was global FAT BIKE day), I brought my fat bike. Great conditions on Saturday at KP! We did a relaxed ride with some of the guys (there were only three ladies on the group ride we were on) and covered about 7.2…

2018 Gravel Gobbler
About a month ago I saw the Mohawk Hudson Cycling Club was organizing a “Gravel Gobbler”, or a gravel ride! It had been ages since I’d ridden actual gravel/dirt roads on my gravel bike so I signed up (for a $25 fee, which was donated to the Regional Food Bank) and convinced my friend Morgan to ride with me. The Gobbler started at S&S Farm Brewery in Nassau, about 35 minutes from home. It had snowed on Friday, so I was a little concerned the dirt roads would be covered in snow, but thankfully the warmer temps just made the dirt roads wet. The ride started at 1:15, which I…

Happiest Place on Earth – Kingdom Trails
Last weekend Jordan and I took a trip to the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont (our favorite place!) to get some riding in Kingdom Trails, one of the best mountain biking trail systems in the Northeast! On our way, we stopped for dinner in White River Junction at a new-ish spot called Trail Break Taps + Tacos. They had good food, good beer, and a great ambiance! With their ski/mtb theme, it was a great place to stop on the way up to East Burke. We arrived at our rustic tiny cabin around 10 pm. It was just what we needed for the weekend. It was a one-room off-the-grid cabin, complete with…

Mountain Biking in Sedona, AZ
At the beginning of June, Jordan and I went on a mountain biking trip to Sedona, Arizona. Our good friends Jason and Aubrey invited us on a short mountain biking vacation. We debated renting bikes out there, but because we both love our own bikes, we decided to pack them up and bring them with us. I used the Biknd Jetpack and loved it. It was super easy to take apart the bike and pack it up and my bike stayed safe and sound during travel. We arrived in Phoenix on Wednesday evening, drove to our rental (a gorgeous house in Cornville, AZ) for one night and then got ready…
