A&P Done!
The semester is over!! Monday night I had my final exam in Anatomy & Physiology 1 and it went very well! I had a great time in the class. Sure, we dissected cats and sheep brains in Lab, but it was SO fascinating. I’m excited about taking A&P 2 next semester.
In case you are new to reading the blog, a looooong time ago I decided to go back to school for nutrition. It feels like forever ago I was sitting in my Psychology 101 class and staring down a huge list of courses I needed for the nutrition program.
After graduating from undergrad in 2007, I decided I wanted a change and started taking the pre-requisites at a local community college for an RD program. Back then I felt like I had SO many to do and that it was going to take forever. Well, that was two years ago in the fall of 2010. I’ve taken Psych, Nutrition, Accounting, Chemistry, Microbiology, and just finished A&P 1. I have two pre-reqs to go (A&P 2 & stats) until I can get to the good stuff in the nutrition program!
Let me tell you, working full time, taking classes (sciences with labs, no less), blogging, training for a marathon and balancing a social life was hard–but not unmanageable. Somehow I still found time to read a few books for pleasure, knit, and watch movies and TV, date nights with Chris (my stress-relievers)…I have no idea how I did that. I guess I just manage my time well and make sure I find time for myself and the things I love.
Anyway, I’m super excited to start the nutrition program in the Fall of 2013 if all goes as planned. It will be HARD to take 3-4 classes while working and I’m not sure I’ll be able to train for and run races, but I can’t wait to get started.

Congrats! And I love that you and so many bloggers just for it. Life is too short to surpass dreams, you know?
As for running while in school full-time and working, maybe you’ll want to work on speed and just train for 5ks and 10ks. While you’ll probably miss the distance, it’d still be a great way to get in training without nearly as much of a time commitment.

Yes! I’m hoping to still run smaller local races… just maybe not marathons with the time commitment that they take up…they will have to wait until I’m done with school!

Great! I as barely managing working and studying for my professional certification (CPA and CFA) a few years back and yet you managed to fit in a whole lot more! In the meantime, have a great Xmas and New Year.

Keep up the good work, never look back on what you ‘thought’ you could not do, continue forward no matter the pace.
