A Track Workout

Last night marked my first workout at a track in a very loooong time. I actually can’t remember the last time I ran at the track. But when I arrived there I was sooo glad I decided to run last night. What took me so long?

The track was so nice and cushy on my feet! I felt like I could run so much faster without having to stop at intersections! It was so nice. 🙂

(please forgive the blurry camera- phone pictures. my sister has my p&s)

I made up some speedwork since I haven’t done a real speed workout in ages I didn’t want to push myself too far and get hurt since my foot is finally feeling better.

It went something like this:
1 mile warm up
1 lap at around 7:15/mile pace
1 recovery lap at around 8:45-9:00/mile pace
^alternated speed lap & recovery lap for 10 more laps to equal 3.0 miles
1 mile cool down

5.09 miles total in 45:05 for an average of 8:50/mile pace. Not too shabby!

Don’t worry track, I’ll be back.

Sounds like an awesome run! One of my fall/winter running goals is to fit more speedwork in, and it’s so much more fun doing it on a track than on the treadmill. I just need to get out the door and do it…
