26.2 Here I Come
Well, I did it! Today I registered for my first marathon!
On November 10, I’ll be running 26.2 miles in Richmond, Virginia! I’m excited, and honestly, I’m a little bit terrified.
Four years ago when I first started running, I never in my wildest dreams thought I would run a marathon. I’m excited about this and can’t wait to write about my training. Woohoo!

Hi Jen,
I am so excited for you to run this race. I have been reading your blog for a couple of months now. My husband and I will be moving to Schenectady in January 2013, and I was trying to see if people in the north actually manage to run outside in winter. I was so encouraged when I stumbled across your blog 🙂
Also- I am a Richmond, VA native. I’ve run the Richmond half-marathon the past two years, and I just want you to know that you will LOVE this race! It’s definitely all that it is cracked up to be. Yay for you!
Jen
Thank you! Yes, I try to run through the winter! Thankfully this year it has been so mild!! And if you have any questions on the Capital Region, you know who to ask! 😉
I’m so excited to visit Richmond. I’ve never been there!

Yes! Hope we can meet up – there are lots of people on Twitter and dailymile running Richmond. Also, I’m glad you signed up after the sponsor change – this logo is so much nicer than what they had before.

First of all congrats on signing up for your first marathon! I can’t wait to to read about your training, is there a specific training plan that you are going to use?
Second, I stopped by X’s to O’s and tried an oatmeal cream pie, it was AWESOME! Thanks for the suggestion 😀

I live near Richmond and ran the half marathon there last year and then did my first marathon in Buffalo this May. Richmond is perfect – cool weather, mostly flat course, great crowds, nice scenery, lots of fellow runners, but not too many fellow runners. I was worried about being able to finish my first full marathon, but it went great. As long as you keep up your training schedule and do at least a 20 mile long run in there somewhere, you will be fine. I’ll be doing the full marathon along with you in November – you’re really going to have a great time!
