2015 Mohawk Hudson Half Marathon

Another Hudson Mohawk Half in the books! Sunday was my fourth HM Half, and we had the perfect day for it! It was a little bit chilly at the start, but not too bad. Turns out all I needed was a pair of throw-away gloves.

The first mile of this race is always super slow for me. It weaves around the Colonie Town Park and eventually goes to the bike path where I can finally get my stride going. The key to this year’s race was the fact that I had no goals. I wasn’t sure how it was going to go because I didn’t particularly train for it. I ran two long runs and hardly ran during the week…I don’t even think I ran 15 miles per week all summer. But I had spent A LOT of time on my feet hiking and taking strength classes at the gym, and mountain biking, with running squeezed in occasionally. Apparently that is good enough!

Running friends! My favorite thing about this race is that almost all my running friends run it too. Love!

I ran along–my miles never going above a 10 minute mile (except for the first one)-and before I knew it we were down at the Watervliet Bike Path.

I found Christine and ran alongside her for a little bit. Then we were at mile 10 with a 5K to go. I picked up the pace a little bit and was surprised I actually had energy left.

Amazing considering I don’t think I ran under a 10 minute mile all summer. But I’ll take it!

We hung out for a little bit at the finish line and took advantage of the post-race massage tent! My feet were feeling a bit sore but that was it. Afterward a few of us went to The Old English Pub for brunch, which is now a post-race tradition for me!

I didn’t race that much this year, I ran 1 marathon and three half marathons (and I’m running another in November) but all the race excitement of this past weekend has me thinking about race goals for 2016. I’m thinking of running another marathon! So after searching a little bit I found the Shipyard Brewing Maine Coast Marathon in Maine in May 2016! And they have a 39.3 mile challenge–a half marathon on Saturday and the full marathon on Sunday–I think I’m going to go for it!

    Great job!

Not running that much, LOL! Just a marathon & 4 halfs (by the end of the year).

3 halfs are enough for me! Actually, I would like to do another this yr but my husband comes with me & I think he’s reached his limit this yr.

And I have bern thinking of doing the Maine Coast half (if it’s the same one I’m thinking of). Cool to have a discount & I’ll have to look at the ambassadorship, too.
