What I’m Loving Right Now: Marathon Training Edition – Part II

Zensah Compression Sleeves

At first I didn’t see the point in compression socks or sleeves. But some marathoners swear by them, so I figured I’d get a pair since I’ll be running high mile runs and want my legs to recover as fast as possible. These are so comfortable. My legs feel great when I wear them after running my long runs! I wore them during a run once and didn’t really notice much of a difference, so I probably won’t wear them while I run. And lets face it, they would look pretty weird with running crops.

Honey Stinger Waffles

I mentioned these in my marathon food post but I have to write about them here because I love them so much. These are the tastiest form of “endurance food” that I’ve tried. I prefer them over Gu any day!

UnderArmour Sports Bra

I was in dire need of a new sportsbra for running. My older ones were starting to well…really reek, which is probably TMI. I think I need to throw them out. Anyway, after trying a bunch on at Dick’s a few weeks ago, I decided to go with this one because it fit great. It is PRICEY, however, although I think its worth it because it will (hopefully) last me years. I like the way it fits and doesn’t chafe too bad (something is guaranteed to chafe when you’re running for 3+ hours).

Note: I paid for all of these products & this is my honest opinion on them–the links are where you can find them in my amazon store.

Deadmau5 Pandora Station

Ever since getting the iPhone 5, I’ve been taking advantage of Pandora on my runs! I love having new music to listen to since my old running playlist was getting pretty boring! I love running to dance music like Deadmau5 so this station is awesome. Also, the new earpods that came with the iPhone are amazing because I can control the volume and skip tracks right on the cord so I don’t have to take my phone out of my pocket. Sweetness.

Runkeeper iPhone App

Everyone and their mother probably has been using this app longer than I have, but since I just got an iPhone I can finally use it. It works similar to my GPS watch but speaks my average pace, distance and time right in my ear when I hit certain mile markers, which is pretty cool. I can virtually ignore it if I don’t want to be constantly staring at my pace the whole run which is nice. It loads quicker than my watch which is also good for when I’m pressed for time during my lunch break runs. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my Garmin and will continue to use it for my long runs, but I love using this app for my shorter weekly workouts.

#1 Reason why I wanted to run a fall marathon. THIS sight on my runs. So pretty.
