Weekend Happenings

I spent Friday night with my cousin, Liz and my friend Caitlyn! We had plans to go to Troy Night Out, but the weather had other ideas. It started storming, so we made a quick stop for dinner at Bacchus Pizza instead.

Since it was Friday, we had a bit of a wait, but it was probably only 15 minutes. Not too bad.

Caitlyn and I both got a Purple Haze. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite beers!

The three of us actually went with an appetizer this time, the spinach, artichoke and shrimp dip.

At first I thought the flavor was a bit off with the dip, but the more I ate it, the better it tasted. It was interesting and not your average spinach dip.

We also went with two pizzas, the shrimp pesto pizza and margherita pizza—since their 12” pizzas are very thin crusted.

I knew the margherita was going to be great since I had that one before, but the shrimp pesto was amazing! I loved the flavors. We each had two slices leftover! Smile

It was a good time, I’m a fan of Bacchus Pizza!

The rest of my Friday evening was pretty low key. I didn’t have any major plans for this weekend, which is definitely a good thing!

Saturday morning was spent stretching the muscles. I downloaded a 60-minute yoga class (courtesy of The Salad Girl—I won a month subscription to Yoga Download!), and ended up doing about 50 minutes of the class. Cedric got in on the action and played with my yoga mat bag.

I’m glad I decided to switch my long run from Saturday to Sunday. It was a good decision, since this weather was nice this morning (upper 60s when I left my apartment). Standard pre-long run fuel: bagel with peanut butter and jam. Its safe to say I only treat myself to real bagels right before long runs. Its special.

Then  I went to the Niksayuna Bike Path for a 10 miler!

037

I was sort of worried about skipping last weekend’s long run, but in the end, it didn’t matter! Sometimes I need to have more faith in myself and my abilities. I know I’m prepared for next weekend’s half marathon!

I felt good enough after 10 miles to do one more mile and ran a total of 11 miles with two hill repeats at mile three, which took me 1 hour and 48 minutes, average pace of 9:47/mile.

Done and done.

038

I came home and immediately refueled with a smoothie! I was daydreaming about this on my run!

Followed by a cheddar and zucchini omelet!

043

Ah, yes. Now its time to relax and possibly take a nap. 11 miles can take a lot of a girl!
