    Winter Snowshoe to Camp Santanoni

A couple of weeks ago a few friends and I snowshoed to the Great Adirondack Camp Santanoni in Newcomb. For a few weekends every winter, they open the camp up for visitors and serve hot chocolate in one of the huts by the lake. The special thing about this Camp is that it’s only accessible in the winter by snowshoe or cross country ski! It is a five mile journey to the camp from the parking area, making it a long hike, but totally worth it! The views on the walk in were amazing! You can see Santanoni from the trail. When we got there we checked out the inside.…

Snowshoeing at the Saratoga National Historical Park

Yesterday’s high was 30 degrees and the sun was out, it was downright balmy. Of course I had to spend the majority of the beautiful day outdoors. 🙂 Jordan and I were originally going to hike in the Adirondacks, but after getting a late start we decided to keep things a little more local and check out the trails at the Saratoga National Historical Park. Jordan rides his road bike here in the summer, but I had never been, so I was excited! We decided on a 4.2 mile loop called the Wilkinsin Trail. What an amazing day for snowshoeing. When we finished the loop (it took about 2 hours)…

    Snowshoeing at Five Rivers

Yesterday Christine and I went for a short snowshoe adventure at Five Rivers. We only had about 45 minutes of daylight to work with, but we did have a special bonus–the full moon! We even saw some deer munching on something under the snow. I didn’t get any pictures of them because they wouldn’t have come out, but it was pretty neat. We probably wandered around about a mile on the trails. It was fun!

What to do on a Snow Day

What is a girl to do when she is snowed in? Brew some Snow in the Tropics tea, of course! Then, look outside. Definitely not the tropics. 🙁 Decide to go snowshowing. But first, find snowshoes for $3 at a garage sale!    Snowshoeing in the woods is so peaceful! I might go back out there later… After snowshoeing, make a cheddar and superfruit jam sandwich. Enjoy while watching Sunrise Earth on TV. And pretend I’m at the beach. Did you get tons of snow today? If so–what do you do during your “Snow Day”?
