ACL Recovery Log – 16 Weeks Post Op
Knee Update Currently, I’m 16 weeks post-op and not much has changed since my last update. In PT we’re still working on light plyometrics, hopping, jumping, skipping, and prepping my knee for…JOGGING. That’s a scary thought! I can’t remember the last time I went for a run before getting injured. A quick look back on my Strava account tells me the last time I ran was on November 19, 2019 – on the treadmill at the gym. EIGHT MONTHS AGO. Per my rehab protocol, I can start running at PT next week. But I have to say, I’m not hopeful that it’s going to go well. My knee still feels…

50 Mi Tour de Habitat
Saturday morning I rode in the Tour de Habitat, a local bike ride to benefit the Habitat for Humanity. I rode this ride a few years ago and was happy to see that it was happening again after a few years off. The Habitat for Humanity builds and rehabilitates homes and brings neglected neighborhoods back to life. There ride began at Druthers Brewing Company in Downtown, Albany. I was doing the 50 mile ride! I was a little nervous because I haven’t been road biking in a while and the last time I rode that far was back in July. Oops. Thankfully, I felt great all day! I brought along…

Riding to Thacher Park
Saturday I took my road bike out and rode up to Thacher from Schoolhouse Road in Guilderland. I haven’t done that ride in two years! The climb is always a bit intimidating but it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting! Love the feeling of seeing that sign when I get to the top. Made a quick stop at the Overlook and grabbed a Gatorade from the snack stand. I was going to take the same route back down, but after riding out past Thompson’s Lake I was pressed for time. I rode down to Altamont and took Route 20 (Western Ave) back to my car and rode a giant…

Cycling Around South Hero Island, Vermont
Last week Jordan and I went on vacation to his family’s camp in South Hero, Vermont on Lake Champlain. The camp is right on the water and we got to enjoy many days sitting by the lake and enjoying some really pretty views. We drove into Burlington one night to catch the sunset and go out to dinner. It was one of the prettiest I’ve seen! We also spent a lot of time road biking! On Tuesday, we rode all around South Hero Island. We biked a total of Total of 38.4 mi around the island! Total moving time: 2:50:30 Elevation gain: 1,050 ft The views were gorgeous all over…

Hoosic 50 River Ride
Yesterday I rode a half-century!! I had been signed up for the Hoosic River Ride 50 miler for a while, but I actually had been kind of dreading it…my training wasn’t really happening the past few weeks and I was really worried about transporting my bike, going alone to a ride in Massachusetts and possibly getting lost during the ride, etc. But thankfully my parents were around yesterday and went with me! They borrowed their neighbor’s bike rack and my dad helped me put my bike on and off we went to Williamstown, MA. The Hoosic Rive Ride had a bunch of distances to choose from, the 100 mile, 75…
