2018 Gravel Gobbler
About a month ago I saw the Mohawk Hudson Cycling Club was organizing a “Gravel Gobbler”, or a gravel ride! It had been ages since I’d ridden actual gravel/dirt roads on my gravel bike so I signed up (for a $25 fee, which was donated to the Regional Food Bank) and convinced my friend Morgan to ride with me. The Gobbler started at S&S Farm Brewery in Nassau, about 35 minutes from home. Riding the Old Champlain Canal Trail
Wednesday’s weather was fantastic. It was also my birthday! When I got home Jordan and I decided to take our bikes out for a quick ride before dinner. We both recently got “alternative road bikes” which are meant for road/dirt/gravel trails. So far, we love them. We rode along the Old Champlain Canal which starts in Waterford. It was a nice, quiet gravel trail, perfect for our bikes. We rode about ~10 miles total. In mid-April I injured my knee when I was riding at North Bethlehem. I went to the Bone and Joint Center where they did an x-ray (no fracture)-just a bone bruise. So I haven’t been riding much…
