ACL Recovery – 1 Year Post Op Update
Well, it has officially been over a year since my ACL surgery! There really isn’t anything new to report, however, one thing I did finally conquer was the box jump at the gym last month. This thing had been my nemesis after injuring my knee. Before my injury, I had no issues doing them. It may seem silly, but it was important to me to be able to do box jumps again. One day, at the beginning of my workout, I decided to just go for it, and completed 3 x 10 24 inch box jumps! I was thrilled! The key was starting at the beginning of my workout so…

ACL Recovery Log – 10 Months Post Op
I know this update is a little bit late, but December 28th marked 10 months post-ACL reconstruction surgery! I still can’t believe it has been 10 months since I had the surgery. Things are very much the same since my last update. I’m still strength training quite a bit and really focusing on lower body strength exercises to prepare for…skiing! Return to skiing is my final hurdle of this recovery. I’d say I’m 100% back to my prior level, but I can’t really say that until I get on skis. I’ve been doing a lot of single leg strength work (think single leg squats, single leg RDLs, a lot of…

ACL Recovery Log – 8 Months Post Op
Today marks 8 months since my ACL reconstructions surgery! I am happy to say things are *almost* back to normal. I started running one day a week about a month ago and that’s been going pretty well. I initially took a break from running after PT ended at the end of July because it just didn’t feel right. It feels a lot better now. I’ve been focusing on run/walk intervals for about 35 minutes. The furthest I’ve run so far is about 3.1 miles! I’m slowly but surely getting back into it. I usually warm up for about 10 minutes on my spin bike prior to the run, but my…

ACL Recovery Log #13 – 10 Weeks Post Op
This past weekend I celebrated my 35th birthday! The weather was beautiful, and I was able to get outside and ride the bike! Jordan and I decided to ride with some friends (while maintaining a safe distance) on the Vischer Ferry trail. Since it’s not far from our house we thought it would be a nice place to ride since it’s flat. But everyone else had the same idea—the trail was crowded in some spots. We wore our buffs that we pulled up whenever we passed other people. But the number of people NOT wearing face-covering was surprising. We rode 7 miles out and back—on the last few miles I…

ACL Recovery Log #12 – 2 Months Post Op
Not much has changed since the last post. Still going to PT 2x per week, but now we all have to wear masks. I saw that coming! Even though it is pretty annoying to breathe through a mask during PT it’s pretty important to keep everyone safe. My exercises at PT will probably stay the same for the next month or so since I can’t really progress much more until 12 weeks. I’m just focusing on strengthing my quads, hamstrings, and glutes, adding more weight, and really working on single-leg exercises (squats mainly!) I have a pretty solid PT routine at home also. Usually, I mix and match the below…
