New Goals
I think I’m going to start getting into the habit again of making goals for myself. I used to be pretty good with sticking to my goals if I announced them but lately I’ve been just getting too lazy to even write them down due to fear of not being able to complete them. That’s going to change!
Run at least 15 miles a week.

I ran a half marathon last weekend and I was extremely sore for the next two days. I think this was because my running during the week was almost non existent. I would run 1-2 miles twice a week and then a long run on the weekend. Apparently that wasn’t cutting it because my legs were so sore after the race I could hardly walk down the stairs. I need to get more miles in during the week so I stay in good running shape this winter.
Complete one cross-training workout a week.
This can be yoga, the stationary bike, elliptical or body pump class. My schedule is so hectic (and its just going to get worse the next few months) so I think I might have to start getting up early to do my workouts.
Eat more vegetables.

I don’t know why but for some reason this has been difficult for me. I need to remind myself that I do love vegetables! Instead of eating so many carbs and starchy foods I need to eat more fresh vegetables.
Lose 5-10 pounds.
This is something that has been nagging me for months and I’ve been quiet about it and ignoring it. I’m not at my happy weight and haven’t been for a while, and things do really have to change for me to complete this goal. I’m going to keep a food journal and hopefully that will keep me accountable. I know how to lose weight, I’ve done it before. I just can’t seem to get motivated enough the second time around. What is wrong with me?
D0 you have any goals you want to complete before the end of 2011?

I pretty much have the same exact goals! I let me sweet tooth and excuses of training get the best of my and have systematically added 10lbs onto my frame from the beginning of the year. I’d definitely like to cut those back off and get a little more routine with my eating and workouts. I’ll totally be your accountability buddy! 🙂

Yes! We can do it together! my problem is saying no to sweets and such. I used to have such good willpower when I was consistently loosing weight, but now it has just gone down the drain. 🙁

I’m about 10lbs over my happy weight as well (and it’s frustrating because some of my old favorite jeans don’t quite fit!) so I’ve been using the livestrong/dailyplate app to track my calories. I am a CRAZY snacker, so that’s helped me get a handle on things!
Good luck!!

thanks! i used daily plate when i was losing, and it helped A LOT. Sometimes I go back and track every once in a while, i just have to be consistent!

I also want to lose about another 10 pounds by January 1st! I ultimately have a bigger goal, but I feel like 10 pounds is something I can manage in two months. I’m totally convinced it’s 90% about the food and that exercising just helps you get to your goal a little quicker.
Good luck girl 🙂

I’m right there with you all. I need to start writing down what I eat again. With working and grad school my schedule is just nuts. How do you handle dinner time when your classes are from 4 to 7 and then I don’t get home until after 8 sometimes? I hate eating late and think this is half my issue.

Sam, i have the same problem when i have class right after work and i don’t get out until 8:30. i usually pack a sandwich to eat before class or sometimes i made a quinoa salad that is easy and portable to have before class.

I have pretty similar goals! Great list and a good idea for an upcoming post.
