I am a Warrior!
I can say I successfully completed the 2010 Warrior Dash NorthEast today. π Holy crap, it was incredible, and unlike anything I’ve ever done in my entire life! It is safe to say that this might be one of the craziest days of my life!
Chris and I got there at around 11:30, since our wave started at 1:00, and we wanted to have enough time to check it out, and check our bags, and pick up our packets. Thank goodness we did!
The Before Photo
The race was held at Windham Mountain Ski Resort, so needless to say, the first half of the 3.25 miles was completely UP HILL. It was so brutal, everyone was walking up it. For the first time I didn’t feel bad for walking during a race, because it was almost impossible for me to run up it. I mean, I consider myself in pretty good shape, but this mountain was killer.
Obviously, I couldn’t take my camera on the course with me, so I couldn’t get any pictures of the obstacles, but they went as follows:
- Tires
- Wall
- Tunnels
- Muddy Forest
- Swamp (chest deep icy cold muddy water-a complete shock, but so much fun)
- Planks
- Bridges
- Cargo Nets
- Catskill Skid (a muddy slip and slide face first down the mountain)
- Fire (had to jump over burning logs)
- Climb under barbed wire through a mud pit
I fell only once (thank goodness, and it was in the muddy grass), so it wasn’t too bad. But getting wet and muddy was totally unavoidable. Our clothes were soaked. It was really weird to be running with completely soaked and squishy shoes, but it was still a lot of fun. I can tell I’m going to be in a lot of pain tomorrow….my thighs and calves were killing me on the way up the mountain.
My sister and my friend Brendan came to watch the race–so thankfully Brendan played my photographer and got some cool pictures of some of the last obstacles.

The After Photo!
I swear, I got mud everywhere!
My friend and roommate from college, Jackie, ran it also with her friend and her boyfriend! Jackie, her friend and I stayed together the entire race! We had so much fun–I’m so glad we ran it together. Thanks for running the race with me ladies! I had a great time. π
We are warriors! Woohoo! π We even got an awesome medal as we crossed the finish line. I’m not sure of our results, but Brendan said Chris finished in about 35 minutes, and that Jackie, Jen and I finished in about 45 minutes.
After we changed, we got some free beer!!! Rehydrate!! π
What a crazy, crazy, fun day. I still can’t believe I did the Warrior Dash. It was insane, but so incredibly fun. I want to do it next year..who’s in?! π

I am still sore after competing Saturday lol, my butt and thighs are killing me haha! The pain is so worth the fun that I had. I too wore all black and didn’t look as dirty as mu hubby did in his white t-shirt.
So much fun, and I can’t wait to do it all again!
