    Winter Hike: Crane Mountain

On Wednesday Jordan and I went hiking again! We decided on Crane Mountain, outside of Warrensburg. This was the one that really got me into hiking in the Adirondacks, back in 2013. The trail to Crane is short, but steep! We used our snowshoes for the majority of the hike. There were a few ladders, which weren’t too horrible. The climb was tough! But we managed. The view from Crane is beautiful! The ascent was a piece of cake compared to the descent. We opted to do the full loop, but I didn’t realize how steep it was going down the other side. Thankfully, we took our snowshoes off and…

HMRRC Winter Series # 1- 15K and The End of 2014

It’s that time of year again, time for the Winter Series races! These are some of my favorite local races because they are 1) free for members, 2) have varying distances to run during the winter, complete with water stops and refreshments, and 3) a majority of my favorite runners do them with me. Christine and I got to SUNY early to do a warm up campus loop of three miles. We averaged around 10:30 pace for the three miles while we chatted away. After warming up, we went into register and hung out inside for a bit before the race began at 10AM. Thankfully it was warmer out than…

After the Leaves Have Fallen Half Marathon

Yesterday I ran the most scenic race I’ve ever run! The After the Leaves Have Fallen Half Marathon is held in Minnewaska State Park Preserve, just outside of New Paltz! It started at 11:00am, which allowed ample time for me to drive down from Albany. The only downside is that it’s usually held on the same day as the Stockade-athon 15K, but this year I knew I would run this trail race instead. It boasted gorgeous views and carriage trails which, even thought I like the Stockade-athon, I’ll take over Schenectady any day. It was also only $15, which is a steal for a half marathon. Lake Minnewaska, right near…

What I’m Loving Right Now – Beauty

Trader Joe’s Coconut Oil Body Butter I finally bought this body butter after hearing such good things about it. I needed some new moisturizer so I got it last time I was at Trader Joe’s.  Let me tell you, it smells amazing! One of my goals this winter is to keep my skin in check. It has been so cold that my skin just dries right out. Using body oil before I shower, using a moisturizing body wash and slathering this on afterwards has helped my skin tremendously! Urban Decay’s Naked3 Eye Shadow Palate I got a Macy’s giftcard for Christmas and got myself some new eye makeup. After seeing…

Loving: My new falls boots! I got them in black and I couldn’t pass them up because they have a strip of elastic down the side, so my huge calves can actually fit into them. I’ve never been able to wear riding boots before because they would never zip up, but these fit perfect and are super comfortable. Looking forward to: The end of the semester! I’m not wishing away fall, but I’m looking forward to the month long break. School and working keeps me busy, and I haven’t had any downtime to myself in a while. Downtime that wasn’t exercise. Ha! Planning: to run the Hairy Gorilla Half Marathon!…
