    A Marathon in 2015

Today I made the jump and registered for my fourth marathon! Memorial day weekend 2015 I’ll be in Buffalo to run 26.2! It will be my first time in Buffalo and my first marathon in my home state, The Great State of New York. It will also be my first marathon in my new age category of 30-34. Eeek! Anyone else running a marathon this spring? I start training in February! Happy New Year!

HMRRC Winter Series # 1- 15K and The End of 2014

It’s that time of year again, time for the Winter Series races! These are some of my favorite local races because they are 1) free for members, 2) have varying distances to run during the winter, complete with water stops and refreshments, and 3) a majority of my favorite runners do them with me. Christine and I got to SUNY early to do a warm up campus loop of three miles. We averaged around 10:30 pace for the three miles while we chatted away. After warming up, we went into register and hung out inside for a bit before the race began at 10AM. Thankfully it was warmer out than…

    Hot Chocolate Run 5K

This past Sunday I ran the Hot Chocolate Run 5K in Northampton, Mass! I first heard about this race through my friend Meredith–she said a few of her running friends were running it, so I decided to run also. It was a nice excuse to dress up for Christmas and run a race for a good cause. And even better–there is hot cocoa with  marshmallows at the end of the race! The proceeds from the race go to Safe Passage–an organization that addresses domestic violence. The race started at 10AM, which gave us plenty of time to get there from Albany in the morning. And it was VERY cold out.…

After the Leaves Have Fallen Half Marathon

Yesterday I ran the most scenic race I’ve ever run! The After the Leaves Have Fallen Half Marathon is held in Minnewaska State Park Preserve, just outside of New Paltz! It started at 11:00am, which allowed ample time for me to drive down from Albany. The only downside is that it’s usually held on the same day as the Stockade-athon 15K, but this year I knew I would run this trail race instead. It boasted gorgeous views and carriage trails which, even thought I like the Stockade-athon, I’ll take over Schenectady any day. It was also only $15, which is a steal for a half marathon. Lake Minnewaska, right near…

Marine Corps Marathon 2014 Race Recap

Sunday morning Meg and I got up at 5:45. Our plan was to leave the hotel by 6:30 and get on the Metro because both of our races began at 7:55am. The marathon start was located at the Pentagon metro stop and the 10K start was a bit further at the Smithsonian metro stop. We got on the crowded metro with a ton of other runners. The ride to my stop was about 15 minutes–there was so much excitement in the air! When we arrived at the Pentagon, I said my goodbyes to Meg and wished her luck on her race! Myself and the other marathon runners got off the…
