    Steel Rail Half Marathon

Sunday morning Jordan and I drove over to Lanesborough, Massachusetts for the Steel Rail Half Marathon. I had wanted to run this race last year but didn’t get a chance to, so I signed up this year. It is advertised as being flat and fast since it’s on a paved rail trail that runs from Lanesborough to Adams, Massachusetts with views of the Berkshire Mountains. There is also a free beer from Berkshire Brewing Company waiting at the finish! [source] The race started at 9:30 so we didn’t have to get up at an ungodly hour to drive the morning of. It was about an hour drive from Troy and…

Running the Seneca 7 Relay Race

Last weekend I had the opportunity to run the Seneca 7, a 77.7 mile relay race out in the Finger Lakes, around Seneca Lake. One of my co-workers runs it every year on a team of 7 women. One couldn’t run this year due to an injury and she asked me to be a replacement. Of course I said yes.   The race started in the Geneva, a city on Seneca Lake (it was about three hour drive from Albany). I drove up Saturday afternoon and had dinner with my team at a nice Italian restaurant in Geneva. The next morning we were up bright and early to start the…

    Syracuse Half Marathon

Saturday evening Jordan and I drove out to Syracuse for the Syracuse Half Marathon! I signed up for this race ages ago and got a hotel .5 miles from the start of the race in downtown, Syracuse. We checked into our hotel and then immediately went searching for some good eats. Around the corner we found a little place called Modern Malt. They had a small late-night menu and I went with the egg and cheese sandwich because it seemed harmless for a pre-race dinner. Thankfully it was a great decision and it was delicious. Both of our meals (Jordan got a burger) came with tater tots! I got sweet…

    A Marathon in 2015

Today I made the jump and registered for my fourth marathon! Memorial day weekend 2015 I’ll be in Buffalo to run 26.2! It will be my first time in Buffalo and my first marathon in my home state, The Great State of New York. It will also be my first marathon in my new age category of 30-34. Eeek! Anyone else running a marathon this spring? I start training in February! Happy New Year!

HMRRC Winter Series # 1- 15K and The End of 2014

It’s that time of year again, time for the Winter Series races! These are some of my favorite local races because they are 1) free for members, 2) have varying distances to run during the winter, complete with water stops and refreshments, and 3) a majority of my favorite runners do them with me. Christine and I got to SUNY early to do a warm up campus loop of three miles. We averaged around 10:30 pace for the three miles while we chatted away. After warming up, we went into register and hung out inside for a bit before the race began at 10AM. Thankfully it was warmer out than…
