    A Lovely 10

Today was the Second Annual CDNY Eat Drink Blog brunch at Heather’s! Read about last year’s here. I can’t believe it’s been a year since I met these girls! We had a blast at the brunch today, but first, my long run! I have a half marathon in three weeks! So today called for another long run, 10 miles to be exact. I headed to the Niskayuna Bike Path to get it done. It was pretty busy when I got there early this morning! But I overheard someone say there was a bike race going on. Ready, set, run. It was my first time ever wearing a hat while running,…

    A Good Run

Finally, an 8.0 mile run that was actually pretty good! Lately I’ve been struggling with my long runs. My legs usually feel fatigued from Body Pump, and the weather is usually humid and uncomfortable for running. Thankfully, I made sure to hydrate well yesterday (and avoid alcohol) since I had an 8.0 mile run planned for Sunday, and I didn’t want to compromise it! I got up and fueled with a bagel with sunflower butter, green tea and water and then headed out shortly after. I went to a local bike trail not too far from my apartment since its the perfect distance for an out and back, 4.0 miles.  …

Girls’ Night Out and a Wet Long Run

Happy Saturday! Last night was girl’s night! Every few months my college girlfriends and I like to get together to meet for dinner & drinks. Last night we met at Brown’s Brewery for some tasty brews and and a delicious meal! I ordered one of my favorites at Brown’s, the Cherry Raspberry Ale, complete with the cherry! For my meal I went with my old standard, the black bean & barley burger. I also got a side of broccoli instead of fries, because, this is a healthy living blog, after all! The veggie burger was a bit drier than usual, but still tasty. I ate half to save room for…

    Delicious Dolmathes

Tonight I hit up the gym to start working on my speedwork for my 15K training plan. It was 98 degrees when I left work, so running outside was a no-go. I would have died. But it wasn’t much cooler in my gym, that’s for sure. I ran a total 4.0 miles in 40 minutes, but did 3 repeats of 800 meters at a 9:12/mile pace. It definitely had me working up a sweat. I probably could have ran a bit faster, but I didn’t want to push it too hard at my first attempt at speedwork in a while! I also threw in a few walking breaks during my…

    Half Marathon Training Reflection

I have been inspired! Katie from Legally Fit wrote a post the other day reflecting on her half marathon training, and she inspired me to sort of do the same! We are actually running the same one! (Source) My first half marathon is only 12 days away so I feel like I need to go back and re-evaulate my training. I wrote up a list of goals for my half marathon training when I first started, and can honestly say I didn’t follow many of them. Fitness Goals Cross-train at least once a week! (Biking, anyone?) This did NOT happen. I hardly had time to do any biking (I think…
