    Brookview Station Wine Tasting

Saturday after meeting up with my Ragnar Team and screen printing our team shirts, Loretta and I drove over to Schodack to visit Brookview Station Winery, located in Goold Orchards. I had a Groupon for the tasting that was about to expire so we wanted to check it out. The tasting room is located right in the main store at the back of the room. I had never been to Goold that I can remember, but it was like your standard little country store on an orchard! There was only one other group of people tasting wine, but I imagine that this place gets packed during prime apple picking season!…

Wine Tasting in the Hudson Valley

Yesterday was an awesome day! Chris and I drove downstate to the Hudson Valley area to check out some wineries. I bought a few Groupons for wine tastings and we decided to use them up! On the way to the first winery we actually ended up making a quick stop at Harvest Spirits Distillery in Valatie. They make their own vodka and other hard liquors right at the farm, with Hudson Valley Apples. I picked up a bottle of the peach jack! Tastings were $1, but free if you bought something. Chris had the applejack at home, so he didn’t get anything. I can’t wait to make a drink with…

    Vegan Spring Wine Dinner

I realized it was the liquid broth that was so hot, I just ate the rice cakes and peanuts out of it, and it helped a little bit with the heat. ... The wasabi sauce wasn't overpowering either (usually I don't like wasabi) but I could only taste a hint of it in the sauce. The wine with this dish was a Fox Run Chardonnay. Third course: "Fun Guy Marsala- Beautiful Mushrooms--Honshimeji, King Oyster, Blue Oyster and Spring Morels on poured Wild Hive polenta". This was my favorite so far.

Bethlehem Turkey Trot 5K + Thanksgiving Dinner

Happy Thanksgiving! Today marks my 13th (last probably last) race of 2010! And it was the first race I went to completely alone! Not that I minded, but it was weird not having someone there to wait with and chat with and meet at the finish line. Last year I ran the Troy Turkey Trot, and this year I decided to run the first Our Towne Bethlehem Turkey Trot! For one, it is way closer to where I live than Troy, and for two, there are less people running and I had a better a chance of PRing! I woke up early to the sun coming up in my backyard.…

    Date Night at Creo

Last night Chris and I had a pre-Thanksgiving date night dinner at Creo Restaurant in Stuyvesant Plaza. I had never been there before, and Chris had been there a few times and said the food was really good, so we decided to head there for a nice dinner. We wanted to celebrate a meal together since we won’t be together on Thanksgiving, as I stay in Albany and he will be going to Pennsylvania to have Thanksgiving with his family. So to Creo we went. I really liked the lighting in the place. The lit up marble looking bar was awesome and would have been really cool to sit at and order drinks while…
