ACL Recovery – Hiking Hurricane Mountain 5 Months Post Op
Sunday marked another huge ACL recovery milestone…a mountain summit! Hurricane Mountain is one of my favorite hikes in the Adirondacks and I figured it would be the perfect mountain for first real hike post op. Jordan and I met some friends at the 9N trailhead at 10:30 am on Sunday and off we went. I remember the trail being in great shape—not too rocky and not terribly steep—good conditions for my first real hike with elevation. Hurricane Mountain Fire Tower – 5.13.17
This past weekend, I was up in Lake Placid for a conference (my first conference in the nutrition profession!) and was reunited with my old loves. Iconic view of the high peaks from the Plains of Abraham Mirror Lake Heart Lake Since I didn’t get to do any hiking while I was up for the conference, Skyler and I drove up to hike Hurricane on Saturday. There was rain in the forecast for the afternoon, so we met at Exit 20 at 7am, arriving at the Route 9N trailhead at about 8:30. Hurricane Mountain Fire Tower
One of my favorite days to hike is Columbus Day! I get the day off from work and school and it’s a day to go outside and play because it’s my favorite time of the year–FALL! Because I ran a half marathon on Sunday, I didn’t want to do a very strenuous hike, so I picked Hurricane Mountain in Keene, a ~6 mi hike RT.
