Hiking Rooster Comb and Snow Mountain Loop – 11.14.20
Yesterday Alicia and I decided to go on a hike in the High Peaks Wilderness Area—the Rooster Comb / Snow Mountain Loop. The trail starts in Keene Valley on route 73. I hiked Rooster Comb with Jordan a few years ago in the winter and I loved it and have always wanted to go back. Now seemed like the perfect time! I have been maxing out my hikes at around 7 miles and right now that seemed like the perfect hike. We arrived at the parking lot at around 8:30am to find it only filled with a few cars. I wasn’t sure what to expect since this lot is usually…

Riding the ADK Ididaride Gravel Course – 11.7.20
Last weekend my friend Aubrey and I got out on the gravel bikes. The weather was looking amazing, so we decided to ride the ADK Ididaride Gravel Course. The Ididaride is a bike event that takes place in North Creek (In the Adirondacks) every summer. I was planning on participating in the event this past July but it got canceled (along with everything else) due to Covid. The past few years they added on two gravel options, a 22 mile and a 30 mile route. We arrived at the North Creek Ski Bowl area around 10 am on Saturday. The temps were already in the 60s, which is pretty uncommon…

Fall Foliage Hike – Sleeping Beauty – 10.9.20
A few weeks ago my friend Frank and I hiked Sleeping Beauty in Lake George, one of my favorite hikes. It was my first every Adirondack hike back in 2008, as well as my first solomy first solo hike a few years back! I also hiked it with my dad and sister a few years ago—so needless to say, it’s my go-to hike! The trailhead is only about a hour from Albany so it’s a really nice spot if you’re looking for something close to home with great views for little effort. We parked at Dacy Clearing, the main trailhead. Sometimes the gate is closed and you have to park further…

Hiking Big Crow and the Nun-Da-Ga-O Ridge – 9.26.20
Looking for a less-crowded hike in the Adirondacks with outstanding views of the high peaks? Look no further! The views from Big Crow and the Nun-Da-Ga-O ridge loop (also called the Soda Range) were fantastic. It was the perfect day for a hike, too. My friends Frank, Brendan, and I arrived at the trailhead at around 9:30 am. The parking lot was crowded, so we parked on the side of the road near the lot. The hike up to big crow was a little steep but really short. We just followed the signs for Big Crow. We were on the top in about 37 minutes. We explored the rocky outcroppings…

Hiking Mount Arab Firetower – 9.7.20
On the way home from our camping trip on Labor Day weekend, Jordan and I hiked Mount Arab, located right outside of Tupper Lake. I decided on this hike for a few reasons: it’s one of the mountains in the ADK Firetower Challenge that I haven’t hiked yet and it’s also part of the Tupper Lake Triad challenge. Before the hike, Jordan and I had a delicious breakfast at the Lumberjack Inn, a Tupper Lake relic! My parents had brought my sister and I here while camping as kids, so coming back here was like traveling through time! Their pancakes are amazing! After breakfast, we drove to the trailhead, located…
