    Back to Square One

Okay, its honesty time. A few days ago I wrote up a post about how awful I’ve been feeling lately about my eating habits, but I didn’t post it, it was more for myself. It pretty much said this: that I’ve noticed my some of my jeans don’t fit anymore and I’ve been feeling like I’ve gained weight, and that I’ve been too afraid to get on a scale to see if I have. This isn’t that post–but I’m going to be just as honest in this one by saying that I know I’ve gained about 10 pounds since I reached my “goal weight” (which was also my lowest weight,…

Where Do Your Eggs Come From?

Do you know where your eggs come from? I do! These cute girls!! Aren’t they adorable? They belong to my neighbors, and thankfully my neighbors provide me with fresh eggs once every couple of weeks. The eggs obviously have to be cleaned with cold water before you really do anything with them, but c’mon, this is local! I feel so much better knowing where my eggs come from, and that these chickens are living a happy life in their warm little coop. Yesterday morning I had an egg + salsa sandwich with one of their eggs. So good! ——– Yesterday I decided to hit up a 90 minute hot yoga…

    My Favorite Healthy Foods

As some of you may know, there are some foods that we just always have to have on hand, because we can’t do without them! Since I try to eat as healthy as possible, I need to have these healthy staple foods in my kitchen, all the time! In no particular order… 1. Oats! I love oats so much, I even wrote a post about them. I like having a nice warm bowl of oatmeal for breakfast, and they are so good for you! I also put them in my smoothies, pancakes, cookies, yogurt, and other baked goods. They are amazing! 2. Beans. Okay, I don’t eat them that much,…

Pride of New York Harvest Fest

How perfect, especially during my Green Challenge, that this weekend there was a Pride of New York Harvest Festival going on at the Empire State Plaza. And the best part: I was able to attend thanks to All Over Albany! I won two free tickets to the event! 🙂 Chris, Chris’ roommate, and their friend from out of town all came with me to this awesome festival. There were so many vendors at the festival, including dozens of New York wineries, a few breweries, and tons and tons other New York farms, orchards, and other food producers. It was glorious! We also got our free wine glass with admission–for all…

    Running Around with Reusable Bags

Yesterday I really put my Green Challenge #2 to the test–I brought my reusable grocery bags to the mall. And let me assure you, I was probably the only person walking around the mall shopping for clothes with reusable bags. And it wasn’t all that bad! Normally when we think about reusuable bags, we think grocery bags, but why does it have to stop there? Even some clothing and retail stores are now selling reusuable shopping bags. I’ve seen them at Old Navy, for example. (source) These will come in handy if I forget mine the next time I’m at the mall and I want to buy something. Anyway–It was kind…
