Celebrating Global Fat Bike Day at KP Trails
Saturday December 1st was Global Fat Bike Day!
There was an organized ride happening up at KP trails in Saratoga, so my friend Erin and I decided to check it out. Snow was mostly gone at KP, just a few spots here and there (Erin rode her regular mountain bike, as did others) but since my full suspension bike is out of commission at the moment (plus it was global FAT BIKE day), I brought my fat bike.
Great conditions on Saturday at KP!
We did a relaxed ride with some of the guys (there were only three ladies on the group ride we were on) and covered about 7.2 miles in 1.5 hours. A nice ride! When we were done there was wood-fired pizza waiting. What? Trailhead wood-fired pizza?! Yes! The organizers of this ride went all out and even brought their portable wood-fired pizza ovens. Amazing! Thanks, dudes!
The mountain biking community in the area is pretty great. Erin and I were skeptical about the ride at first (figured we’d be riding by ourselves) but we all stayed together which was nice. It was more of a social ride, which made it a lot more fun. I’m totally looking forward to more fat biking this winter season!
