Summer in the City – Day 1: Pancakes, Wine & Cupcakes

Greetings from Penn Station! Chris and I are now waiting for our train back to Albany. We had a great time in the city this weekend. We got into the city at around 10:30 on Friday morning. We dragged our luggage 10+ blocks from Penn Station to our hotel, which was right outside of Times Square (near Hell’s Kitchen/Theater District). We stayed at the EconoLodge! The hotel was TINY! But that’s okay, since it wasn’t too expensive (for a hotel in the city), and we really just needed a place to sleep. The rooms were even smaller than I thought they’d be. Yeah, teeny tiny. After we dropped out stuff…

    How to Handle Vacation Eating

Happy Friday everyone! Abbi over at Higher Miles posted a couple questions for those of us who joined the Distance Dreamers feature on her blog. Here are my responses What is your best running memory/experience? One of my best running experience is completing the Boilermaker 15K in July 2010. As of today, this race was the longest distance I’ve ever ran in my life (9.5 miles). I never in a million years thought I’d be running a 15K. It was a challenging race, but I finished, running the entire thing (only stopping for a few seconds to walk through some water stations near the end). I set a goal for…

    Hot Yoga in Saratoga

I feel so refreshed and rejuvenated after taking my first hot yoga class at Hot Yoga Saratoga. Katie invited Rebecca, Courtney and I to attend a class with her this morning. I’m so glad she did because I feel great right now. I fueled this morning with half a bowl of vegan overnight oats that I found on Angela’s blog. I think I made them wrong because they were SO slimey. I did not enjoy the texture of these oats. I probably won’t be having overnight oats again any time soon. So I got up bright and early to meet Courtney and Rebecca and we headed to Saratoga to meet…

Adirondack Pub and Brewery + Pirates Cove

If you’re just catching up from this weekend, yesterday Chris and I ran a 10 K in Lake George! Here’s the rest of the day’s adventures following the race. After the 10K, we drove in to the Lake George village, AKA a big tourist trap. Growing up in the Capital District made Lake George a summer hot spot. But It’s getting kind of more like a “been there, done that” type of thing, now. It’s a bit too touristy for my liking, but they did have one good thing. The Adirondack Wine Tasting Room! I left with two bottles of Adirondack wine! Strawsling (strawberry riesling), and Blue Twilight (blueberry shiraz)…
