    Fun with the Food Processor

So, last weekend I made hummus for the football game. It turned out so good, I wanted to make it again for myself! I used a simple, fail proof recipe found on Serious Eats.    It came out creamy, the perfect texture for hummus! I think I like home made hummus better than the store kinds! This one is so good. You need to make it, stat! I love dipping baby carrots or sliced peppers in hummus. Its so healthy too. ~~~ This morning I was debating on if I wanted a smoothie or oats for breakfast. Oats won! In the mix: Bob’s red mill five grain hot cereal 2…

    Homemade Pizza and MRI Results

Homemade pizza is one of my favorite foods. Actually, all types of pizza are. But I love making it at home and its sooo easy to do. Chris and I first made pizza together on new years eve 2009..and it was pretty much a disaster. We got a pizza stone for the occasion, from Hannaford, and when it came out of the oven, the crust ended up sticking to it. The pizza was just barely salvaged. We ate it, anyway. Hardcore Kickboxing

Back in October of 2009 I took kickboxing classes for about three months—and they were amazing! The instructor was a young guy in amazing shape and really kicked our butts during class. I got in pretty good shape physically while taking it 2x a week for those months. However, the price started adding up and then the studio closed. Shortly after I joined my current gym. Needless to say, I haven’t practiced kickboxing since about January of 2010. Since I haven’t been running due to my injury, I’ve been wanting to start kickboxing up again, but with no studio around, I decided to get a kickboxing DVD. I found this…

Mountains of Kale and a Pizzelle Party

Today I had a fabulous day off! I started by being productive in the kitchen at around 8:30 am this morning. On the agenda: soup! I had a huge bunch of kale sitting in my fridge that was calling to be used, or it would have gone bad. I decided on some butternut squash kale soup! I followed the recipe on Anne’s blog…but made some tweaks, including adding a can of mixed veggies to the pot. I used 1 can of veggie broth, 1 can of butternut squash puree, a huge bunch of kale, soy milk, olive oil, 1 can of mixed veggies, salt, pepper, cinnamon and onion powder. I…

    Birthdays and Brunches with Bloggers

It’s already Sunday. This weekend has flown by! But, I have a long one since I have a day off tomorrow for MLK Day. 🙂 So, Friday was my mom’s birthday! Dad and Mom in Florida, Feb. 2010 Friday night we celebrated with cake + an edible arrangement! Isn’t it pretty? My favorite are the chocolate covered strawberries! I also had a small slice of cake. I hope my mom had a fantastic birthday! Happy birthday Mom, I love you! Anyway–Saturday morning I had to get up bright and early to head to yoga. I purchased a Groupon for 50% of yoga classes at the Pilates Principal in Latham. Our…
