    Weekend Report

Happy Monday. Well, I had a pretty good weekend. It was HOT and gorgeous! Friday night after work Chris and I went to dinner at Sitar, an Indian restaurant on Central Avenue. Its been awhile since I did a local restaurant review! We ordered the sampler of appetizers, which came with veggie samosas and pakoras with a mint dipping sauce. Everything was delicious and full of flavor. My favorite her were the pakoras. For dinner I got the Navratan Korma (from the menu: mixed vegetables cooked with Indian cheese, cream, onions, & tomato gravy mildly spiced). It was delicious and so filling. Indian food isn’t complete without delicious naan, either.…

    Saratoga Springs Food Tour

Our first stop on the tour was the So Lively Tapenade booth at the farmer's market We sampled the home made chips and the tapenade. There were two flavors, the original tapenade and roasted red pepper. ... They make their yogurt with only a few ingredients, milk and cultures, so it is all natural and healthy. In a blind taste test, their yogurt was voted the best greek yogurt against some of the popular New York-made yogurt brands out there.

    Lunch at Loving Cafe

Saturday morning my sister and I went to go check out the Troy Farmer’s Market. I think its one of the last weeks that it is outside, so we wanted to take advantage of it! I didn’t end up buying anything except some local honey, but my sister and I spotted a new storefront, Sticky Fingers Gourmet Apples! She ended up getting a dark chocolate with sea salt apple. I had a taste, it was great! After our trip to the market, we went to pick up Chris to go out lunch. Chris and I had been wanting to check out the Loving Cafe in Delmar. Its the closest vegetarian/vegan…

    Enjoying Troy

Today was a pretty low key day. I woke up pretty early to get in a short two mile run. I tried to work some speedwork into it. I did 2 miles in about 20 minutes on the treadmill. It was a nice wake up call! A smoothie for breakfast followed. (Recycled smoothie photo!) In my smoothie this morning: 1 cup almond milk 1/2 packet of Nutribiotic brown rice protein + flax handful of frozen cherries 3 fresh strawberries After my run, I spent the morning with my good friend Marcie! I’ve known Marcie since 8th grade (we were in drama club together!) and she is also a blogger for…

Eggplant, Spinach and Goat Cheese Flatbread Pizza

TGIF! All day I was thinking about what I was planning to make with this monster. I got this huge eggplant at the farmer’s market yesterday for $1.50. I have never cooked eggplant in my life! I’ve only eaten it out at restaurants or when other people have cooked it for me–never on my own. So I think it was time to give it a try. I wanted to make pizza tonight, so I went with Eggplant, Spinach, and Goat Cheese Flatbread pizza. 🙂 I cut up the eggplant into little triangles, and put them on the flatbread, along with cheese and some baby spinach. Ingredients Eggplant, thinly sliced into…
