2019 Gravel Gobbler
I love fall gravel riding. When the mountain bike trails are soggy, it’s time to hit the gravel roads! On Saturday, Jordan and I met up with our friends Margaret and Jeff for the Gravel Gobbler, a gravel ride that starts at S&S Brewery in Nassau. The great thing about the Gobbler is that the proceeds go directly to the Regional Food Bank of NY–such a great cause! Jordan and I were originally planning to stick to the shorter, 23-mile gravel route, but got talked into riding the 38-mile route instead. The route was very similar to most of the other gravel rides I’ve done (the first gravel gobbler, the…

2019 Farmer’s Fatty Gravel Ride
Happy Belated St Patrick’s Day! Jordan and I celebrated by riding the Farmer’s Fatty Gravel Ride, a 25 mile ride through the hills of Nassau and East Chatham. The ride started at S&S Farm Brewery in Nassau (a very cool place if you haven’t yet been) at 10am. The weather was a bit chilly (mid 30s) with some wind. At least the sun came out! The course was very similar to the Farmer’s Daughter and the Gravel Gobbler, so I knew it would be gorgeous! Jordan took off in the beginning, so I rode with a few ladies I knew from previous rides. The course was very challenging. It has…

Fat Tire Bike Race at Gurney Lane
Last month, Gurney Lane held the first ever Fat Tire Bike Race. Gurney Lane is a popular trail system for mountain bikers in the area. We ride there a lot in the summer, as it’s a park that offers a variety of beginner/intermediate mountain bike trails. This winter, the Queensbury Parks and Recreation raised money for a groomer so the trails can be maintained and accessible to fat bikers in the winter. Cath and I decided to participate in the first ever Fat Tire Bike Race held at Gurney. The race had two variations, a 5 mile loop and a longer 10 mile version. Cath and I both rode the 5 mile…

Why I Chose the Maine Coast Marathon
In case you didn’t know, I signed up for my fifth marathon in May 2016! I’m running the Shipyard Maine Coast Marathon on May 15, 2016. I chose this marathon because of the good reviews it got on Marathon Guide. It boasts scenic views along the coast line of Maine, a place I have never been! I wanted to run a Spring marathon and this seemed like the perfect one. I also signed up for the 39.3 challenge, which means I’m going to run the half marathon on Saturday, followed by the full marathon on Sunday! (No I’m not crazy, I’m awesome.) I’m also a Race Ambassador for the marathon!…
