Green Challenge #3 – Water Conservation

Okay, its that time yet again! I feel like the months are just flying by! Its December first and you know what that means. Its time for the next Green Challenge. And we’ve come up with a pretty good one, and one that is probably the most important! Challenge #3 – December 1, 2010 – December 1, 2011 For one year, conserve water by doing the following: Take “military-style” showers. These are showers where you turn off the water while you wash your hair and body. Chris has already been doing this to save water, so it won’t be much of a challenge for him, but for me, it will be!…

    2011 Race Wish List

Now that my 2010 racing year is over (yes, it’s over, I’m not racing in December!) I have been thinking about what races I want to do in 2011. I ran 13 races in 2010, I’ve come to the following conclusions: 5Ks are a great beginner race, but after running my fair share of them in the spring/early summer, I’ve decided that I’m not a fan. After training for distance running, I prefer longer races. I will probably only run one or two 5Ks next year. I really like cycling, but I don’t have a decent bike. It’s okay for riding 5-10 miles on a country road but I would…

    Catching Up

Okay, this post is going to be all over the place so bear with me! I have a lot of catching up to do since I pretty much took Saturday + Sunday off from blogging for a relaxing weekend! Let me rewind to Saturday… Saturday morning I dug back into my Trader Joe’s pancake mix and made some pumpkin waffles, which were amazing by the way. I topped them with my home made pumpkin butter mixed with a touch of maple syrup for some mapley pumpkiney deliciousness. I think I have a thing for waffles as pre-run fuel, because after breakfast I headed to the outdoor track to run some…

    Black Friday Madness

Every year the day after Thanksgiving, since I can remember, my sister and I have gone out at an ungodly hour to go shopping on Black Friday. I guess it’s more of a tradition now! Last year my sister and I went to Boscov’s with our friend to wait in line at 4AM, in the cold. The line looked like this. (source) But instead, this year, we got up this morning at 5AM and made to the mall at 6:30. Most of the stores we wanted to go to were opening then. I wanted to go to Gap since they were having 50% off the entire store before 10AM. The…

Bethlehem Turkey Trot 5K + Thanksgiving Dinner

Happy Thanksgiving! Today marks my 13th (last probably last) race of 2010! And it was the first race I went to completely alone! Not that I minded, but it was weird not having someone there to wait with and chat with and meet at the finish line. Last year I ran the Troy Turkey Trot, and this year I decided to run the first Our Towne Bethlehem Turkey Trot! For one, it is way closer to where I live than Troy, and for two, there are less people running and I had a better a chance of PRing! I woke up early to the sun coming up in my backyard.…
