I secretly had a goal in January 2012….to run 1,000 miles for the whole year. In the beginning of 2012 I knew I wanted to run a marathon, but in March I went ahead and signed up for one. Goal completed. And with marathon training came high mileage (for me). I ran a 35 mile week during marathon training, which was peak for me..who was used to running around 15-20 miles average. That’s a lot of miles for me, especially because I’m injury prone. Thankfully I didn’t have to deal with any nagging injuries during training! However, now December is upon us and I’m only 13 miles away from my goal! I’ll hit 1,000 miles by the end of the first week of December! I think its pretty impressive that this once non-runner trained for a marathon successfully in 2012 and hit 1,000 miles total for the year. 😀
I’m already focusing on my next goals for 2013…a half marathon on January 1st, and another marathon on May 26, hopefully with a PR.
