~~~~~
Yesterday marked my second race of 2012, the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners’ Club Winter Series #3, the 10K!
Melissa came too (she ran the half with me last week) for the 3 miler, AND I even talked my sister into coming with me and running the 3 miler too!
I was a little bit worried about how I was going to feel physically during the race because of my previous week long Detox, but considering I took Saturday to fuel like I normally do I was hoping to run a good race.
The course almost the same as the hangover half marathon that I ran the week before, except with a different first loop. The last larger loop around the State Campus was the same as the half…so I knew what to expect with the course, which was a good thing. It all looked very familiar.
The first mile was a bit tough since I didn’t have much of a chance to warm up at all. I had wanted to but didn’t have the time, so at 10AM sharp, off we went!
Mile Splits
Mile 1 – 9:22
Mile 2 – 9:10
Mile 3 – 8:52
Mile 4 – 9:29
Mile 5 – 8:55
Mile 6 – 8:55…almost there
Mile .19 – 7:80
Total miles – 6.19
Average Pace – 9:04/mile….
Time – 56:07…a NEW 10K PR!!!
I honestly didn’t think I could manage a PR today but I surprised myself. With great running weather, clean eating the previous week, and even a slice of cake on Saturday (yes I think the cake works), I managed to shave off well over a minute from my old 10K PR. Hurray!!
My sister finished her 3 Miler in 38 minutes, which is AWESOME! I think I’ve made a runner out of her. :-)
After the race, we both went to meet some friends at Peaches Cafe, where I got an Mediterranean egg white omelet with fruit and whole wheat toast.
Followed by a trip to TCBY to get some well deserved frozen yogurt. :-)
Yum. It was a good day, indeed.
