Time for another Detox Update and some exciting news.
Today is Day 6 and its going well. I had another protein shake for breakfast this morning.
Lets talk about yesterday, Day 5.
Breakfast
Green Smoothie which was made with frozen spinach, almond milk, brown rice protein powder, and frozen bananas.

My morning snack was grapes and almonds.
Lunch
Brown rice, Brussels sprouts and avocado with 1 soft shell corn tortilla.

Also not pictured, an orange.
Workout
3 mile run with lots of walking breaks. Let me explain…
Yesterday I ran 3 miles on my lunch break and felt really tired and had no energy. I’m not sure if this because of the lack of carbs in my diet lately…could it be? I was well hydrated and I snacked on nuts beforehand but maybe that wasn’t enough. I’m running a 10K on Sunday and I’m kind of worried since I haven’t been eating like I normally do. I’m eating about the same amount of food, maybe a little bit less and a lot less carbs….not sure if this will impact my race on Sunday.
Dinner
A sunshine burger (soy free, gluten free & vegan) with home made baked sweet potato fries.

I’m hoping to incorporate more vegetables into my diet today and tomorrow…lately they’ve been missing since I ran out of produce for my salads earlier in the week. Well, why don’t I just go get more? Because I went over my weekly grocery budget on Monday by $7, so shopping for more food this week just wasn’t doable for my wallet. One thing I’ve learned about this detox was that it was expensive!!
Now for the excitement! The cookbook that my detox is outlined in is from one of my new favorite cookbooks, “Cooking with Trader Joe’s: Skinny Dish”, and I mentioned that you don’t have to have a Trader Joe’s nearby to make the recipes. And wouldn’t you know that yesterday afternoon it was announced that a Trader Joe’s is coming to ALBANY!!! This is awesome.
Make sure to check back soon to hear about the rest of the detox…I also have more exciting news to share…that might include a giveaway.

A couple of years ago I did a low carb diet. My running took a huge hit. Before the low carb diet started, I’d been doing 6-7 mile runs every weekend. I wasn’t training but just doing longer runs to keep my base. The first weekend of the low carb diet I hit a wall at mile 4.5. I’ve never hit a wall like that before. I physically could not run another step. I ended up walking the last 1.5 miles home. That was the end of my low carb diet. I just wasn’t giving my body what it needs, lesson learned. I did do another 2 week no carb detox about a year ago, I didn’t run at all those couple weeks, just did some elliptical, it was all my body could do.
that is my fear! i actually had some carbs & some sugar today (more on that tomorrow) in preparation for my race. lets hope its enough fuel for a 10K!
So excited about TJ’s coming to Albany!
Of course it’s after I leave the area, but I’ll be back

I have been enjoying pretty much that same smoothie all week! It’s delicious I love how the banana gives it such a natural sweetness. That is GREAT news about Trader Joe’s – there needs to be one in every city.
