I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Yesterday my Thanksgiving started out pretty good. Chris and I ran in the Troy Turkey Trot, Troy’s local thanksgiving 5K. I ran this race once two years ago and it was my second ever 5K. Good memories.
It was a little bit chilly at first yesterday but after a one mile warm up around Troy, we were ready to run.

A lot of people were dressed up in costumes, including a bunch of guys dressed up at Christmas presents. It was a pretty cute idea…I have no idea how they ran in those for 3.1 miles.

The race started out pretty slow since it was crowded (6,000 runners, a record for this race) but eventually it thinned out.

Before I knew it the race was over and I was running full speed down River Street.
Chris finished ahead of me in 25 minutes (if only I could keep up!) and I finished in 27:07 (average of 8:45/mile), which seems to be the time my body likes to finish 5Ks at since I’ve ran two other races in around 27:XX minutes.
I didn’t feel too well at the finish (I think I ran too hard for the last mile, bleh) and decided that I don’t really care for 5Ks much. They are a good time if you are in the fun mindset but for some reason I end up to pushing myself and always end up feeling crappy during the run. I’ll take 13.1, thank you very much.
I found Chris and we headed home to get ready for Thanksgiving!

My mom was cooking dinner at my parents house so Chris joined us this year.
My grandma, uncle and cousin came too.

(Early) dinner is served!

My along with the turkey, my mom made a delicious butternut squash lasagna that was amazing.

The side that I brought, maple roasted brussells sprouts!

My plate…

I ended up bringing the acorn squash and stuffing home since I got so full and had to save room for dessert. I can’t wait to have that for dinner tonight!
Chris’ plate, he got a turkey leg!

And dessert!

With a special treat from Sticky Fingers’ Gourmet Apples that I picked up on Wednesday. Yum.

We had an amazing Thanksgiving feast!

I’m so lucky to have spent it with my wonderful family and boyfriend.

5Ks hurt, and I’m in the middle of 4 in 4 weeks. It’s giving me a refreshed perspective on races. That said, I definitely prefer a half marathon over them.

I know you hate 5Ks, but I am still going to try to convince you to run one with me this coming year.
I have an idea – if you really dont want to race it – maybe you could just be my pacer. you dont even have to register – just PUSH ME. Scotia 5K in July?
p.s. guess who ran 5 miles today?
