Lunch on the Ocean

Today I just finished a 5.0 mile run in 75 degree weather! It was HOT and HUMID…and I felt a lot like I did when training for the Boilermaker this past summer. Phew!!! I almost quit at 2.5 miles. I took a lot of walking breaks, because it was necessary in this heat. I even stopped back at the house to change into my shorts and get some water. My body is not used to the warmth and I feel like my endurance is gone! But, I know it’s just the weather and once I’m back in the cold it will be easier to run. I’ve also realized that my body really likes running in cooler temps (Oh, Fall weather.)

Garmin Stats
Distance – 5.06 miles
Time – 50:10
Average Pace – 9:54/mile (I’m slower in Florida!)

Splits
Mile 1 -  9:42
Mile 2 – 10:31 (walking much?)
Mile 3 – 9:49
Mile 4 – 9:53
Mile 5 – 9:48

Anyway…

Yesterday I had lunch over looking this!

Gorgeous!! Can you imagine having a house on the ocean??

My parents and I stopped at the Disney Resort at Vero Beach for lunch. The resort was magical! It figures, since it is run by Disney and all.

The little restaurant that overlooks the ocean is called the Green Cabin Room. They had an extremely small menu, but had LOTS of tasty looking mixed drinks.

I ordered a red sangria.

It was sweet and delicious. I’ve never met a sangria I didn’t like.

Lunch was a tomato & basil flat bread pizza.

It was one of the best flat bread pizzas I’ve ever had, no lie! I shared it with my parents and they loved it too. The toppings were light and not too overpowering and the crust was perfectly crispy.

They also ordered the sampler, which included wings, crab cakes, egg rolls and spinach artichoke dip.

I tried a egg roll and it was so good. A crispy crust was filled with corn, beans and cheese. Yum. I might have stolen some dip as well…

And here are more pictures of the view, just because.

Sigh. Today is my last full day in Sunny Florida. I don’t want to go back to the North!
