Finally some time to blog! Today was pretty exciting…Chris and I spent the day at Saratoga Race Track!

But first, before anything else, I had to run my 7 mile long run for the weekend. This morning’s run is my first long run of my half marathon training, and my longest run since the Boilermaker in July.
I got up at 6:00AM so I could eat some breakfast pre-run. A bagel thin, almond butter + banana.

This pre-run breakfast does me no wrong! I love it. Anyway, I waited about an hour for it to digest, and I set out at 7:15AM for 7 miles. The weather was perfect-in the 60s. It felt amazing. I started out really slow because I know that is the key to staying strong throughout my run. I completed 7 miles in 1 hour, 14 minutes and 44 seconds. With only one pit stop back at my house.

Overall..I had a great run. It took me a while since I was going slow, but I felt pretty good the whole time…with only some fatigue in my calves since they’ve been sore a lately. I’m really happy with my long run today.
AND I was all done with my run by 9AM! Go me!
After stretching (some foam rolling), and showering, I was getting pretty hungry again. Time for a yogurt mess!

One of the best post run snacks, ever!
After eating I had to quickly get some stuff ready since Chris and I were going to Saratoga for the day.
I brought some tortilla chips, hummus and salsa to snack on for “lunch” at the track. I felt like a bottomless pit for most of the day, probably due to my run this morning. So I figured a froyo would cure that! I got Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie Frozen Yogurt, and it was amazing!

And it hit the spot! We sat in the grandstands for 8 races. I bet on a few races, but didn’t win anything, sadly. Chris won an exacta on the first race! Lucky! I’m not that lucky. It was a fun day though!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! I’m headed to Boston for the day tomorrow. Exciting!

Wow, way to finish the last mile strong! That’s great. Have fun in Boston
Awesome job on the run! I had a seven miler on Saturday too- I started later so it was pretty hot. I fueled with a gu for the first time and it was awesome! Don’t you love the foam roller?
